Whenever you're ready — before or after launch — link your bank account through Stripe and verify your identity, and your funds transfer automatically. The More to Roam platform fee and Stripe's processing fees ($0.30 + 2.9%) are deducted from your payout before transfer.

- Does More to Roam charge a fee?
- Creating a trip and sharing it is free. When contributions come in, More to Roam keeps a 4.5% platform fee. Stripe's standard payment-processing fee ($0.30 + 2.9%) is deducted from the traveller's payout before transfer, so there's nothing to pay up front.
- When do I receive the money I raise?
- Contributions are collected securely through Stripe and held safely for you from day one. Set up payouts whenever you're ready — before or after launch — and your funds transfer to your account automatically. Stripe may hold your first funds for 7–14 days while verifying your account; after that, your balance is paid out to your bank every Friday — there's nothing to transfer manually.
- What happens if I don't reach my funding goal?
- Your funding goal is a target, not a threshold. There's no all-or-nothing rule — you keep whatever your community contributes and can put every contribution toward your trip, even if you don't reach 100%.
- Do contributors need an account to give?
- No. Anyone can view a trip and contribute in a few taps — no account, app or sign-up needed. Payments are processed securely by Stripe.
- Is it safe to send and receive money?
- Yes. Every payment is handled by Stripe, a global payment provider, so More to Roam never sees or stores card or bank details. Receiving money requires verifying your identity through Stripe before any payout is made.
- Can contributions be refunded?
- Until funds are paid out to your bank, contributions can be refunded — if a campaign is cancelled, any contributions not yet paid out are returned automatically. Because payouts run automatically every Friday, refunds are only possible before that week's payout; once funds have been paid out, refunds are no longer possible through More to Roam.
- Can I use More to Roam if I'm under 18?
- Yes. A parent or guardian sets up and manages the campaign on the young person's behalf — including payouts — because bank and identity verification through Stripe require an adult.
