Payout and Contribution Terms
These terms form part of our Terms of Service and govern how campaign funds are collected, held, transferred, and paid out. Last updated: September 15, 2026.
Part A — For Travelers: payouts, transfers, and your authorization
1. How you get paid
Contributions to your campaign are collected by our payment partner, Stripe. Funds are held by Stripe from the moment a contribution is made and are transferred to the Stripe connected account created for you when you complete payout setup (identity verification and bank details, provided directly to Stripe). More to Roam never takes possession of your funds; they remain with Stripe, a regulated payment institution, at all times.
2. Your instruction authority to us
By launching a campaign, you appoint More to Roam as your limited agent for one purpose only: to instruct Stripe to transfer your campaign funds in accordance with the fixed rules in section 3. We have no discretion over your funds, no authority to use them for any other purpose, and no right to delay or withhold transfers except as those fixed rules state.
3. Fixed transfer rules
Transfers run automatically, without any manual decision by us:
- Your full available net balance (section 4) is transferred to your connected account as soon as it is payout-ready, and new contributions transfer automatically on a daily schedule thereafter. You may also trigger a transfer yourself at any time from your Payouts page.
- Security holds, applied uniformly to all campaigns: (i) a campaign's funds first become transferable 7 days after its first completed contribution; (ii) a contribution that is subject to a payment dispute, or automatically flagged by fraud controls, is excluded from transfer until the dispute or review is resolved.
- Stripe pays your connected account's balance to your bank automatically on a weekly schedule. New Stripe accounts may be subject to Stripe's own initial verification hold.
4. Fees
The amount transferred is the contribution amount minus (i) the More to Roam platform fee at the rate fixed for your trip when it was created, and (ii) Stripe's payment processing fees. Where a contribution is made or settled in a different currency than your payout currency, currency conversion is performed by Stripe at its prevailing rate and conversion costs are deducted from your funds.
5. If you don't set up payouts
You can launch and collect contributions before completing payout setup. Until you complete it, your funds are held safely by Stripe and we will send you periodic reminders. If you have not completed payout setup within 180 days of your campaign's first contribution, we may, after notice to you, instruct Stripe to refund the contributions to your contributors.
6. Travelers under 18
If you are under 18, a Responsible Party (a parent or legal guardian) must complete identity verification and connect their bank account before your campaign can go live. Funds are transferred to the Responsible Party, who is responsible for applying them to your trip. The Responsible Party grants us the same limited instruction authority described in section 2.
7. Refunds and reversals
If a contribution is refunded (including when you cancel your campaign, when required by a payment dispute, or under section 5), any amount already transferred for that contribution is reversed from your connected account balance. If your balance is insufficient, you must repay the shortfall.
Part B — For Contributors: your contribution
1. Who processes your payment
Contributions are payments to Thane Digital LLC, trading as More to Roam, processed by our payment partner Stripe; "More to Roam" is the name you will see on your card statement. The funds are held by Stripe and passed on to the traveler, less the platform fee and payment processing fees, under the fixed transfer rules in Part A.
2. Contributions are gifts
A contribution is a gift to the traveler. It does not purchase goods, services, or any interest in the trip, and reaching or missing the funding goal creates no entitlement to a refund.
3. Refunds
Contributions are refunded in full, automatically, to your original payment method if the traveler cancels their campaign, or if the campaign is removed for violating our rules. Contributions may also be refunded if the traveler does not complete payout setup within the period stated in Part A. Otherwise contributions are non-refundable.
4. If the traveler hasn't set up payouts yet
Travelers may collect contributions before completing identity verification and bank setup with Stripe. Until then, funds are held safely by Stripe — not by the traveler and not in any bank account of More to Roam — and are released only after the traveler completes Stripe's verification.
